From sign-up to your first call.
Watch a sample business go from agreement and free trial checkout to one six-step receptionist setup, publishing and call forwarding. Your automatic number is assigned after checkout and becomes ready for calls after publication.
One setup. Six clear steps.
Create your account and complete checkout, follow the six setup steps, then forward and test. Each card loops a scene; Watch this chapter jumps to its start.
- 01 Account
Create and verify your account.
Enter your name, email and password, accept the account consent and follow the verification email. Or continue with Google and complete the account consent screen. Then continue to your subscription order.
- 02 Order
Open your order.
Enter the legal business or entity purchasing the subscription. Your trial includes automatic number assignment. Opening an order does not sign an agreement, charge a card or start the trial.
- 03 Agreement
Review and sign the agreement.
Read the order and trial terms. Enter your full name as an electronic signature and check both acknowledgements: authority and policy acceptance, and agreement to sign electronically. Then open trial checkout.
- 04 Trial checkout
Start your trial in secure checkout.
Stripe opens in a Secure checkout modal. Card required; $0 today. Completing checkout starts the 48-hour trial and your first monthly period. The 100 minutes are shared with month one. Unless you cancel before 48 hours end, the full $74.95 monthly fee is charged automatically. After included paid minutes, extra time is $0.3495/minute, billed by the second. During setup, use “View your order or cancel trial” to manage your trial.
- 05 Business
Step 1. Introduce your business.
Enter your business name, type and current phone, with an optional address or Google listing. Confirm the name callers should hear, the required five-digit business ZIP code and your service radius, initially 50 miles. Save and continue.
- 06 Hours & calendar
Step 2. Set hours and booking.
Set business time zone and hours. In this same step, optionally connect a calendar, then select it for this receptionist. Selecting a calendar turns booking on automatically; you can turn it off below. Choose appointment length and the time between appointments. Standard appointments follow business hours. Optional emergency appointments need your qualification instructions, approved additional hours, a free calendar slot and AI answering coverage. Without an authorized calendar and booking enabled, the AI collects preferred times and callback details.
- 07 Voice & answering
Step 3. Choose the voice and coverage.
Name this receptionist, preview and choose a voice, and set greeting guidance that names your business and discloses the AI. Choose 24/7 or custom answering hours separately from appointment hours. Outside-hours controls are disabled for 24/7; with custom hours, choose to take a message or play an unavailable message and end the call.
- 08 Instructions & boundaries
Step 4. Give direction and boundaries.
Review the starting business instructions, describe how calls should be handled and set what to say when an answer is unknown. Add topics the AI must avoid and an approved response. An optional urgent contact uses a direct number that never forwards back to the AI; transfers require paid service and AI answering hours.
- 09 Pronunciation & sources
Step 5. Teach names and approved facts.
Add key terms and pronunciation guidance, then listen to a sample. Import a website page, document or pasted text. Read the full extracted source, choose suggested entries and approve the source for your draft. Approved source text supplements your selected entries; importing alone does not publish anything.
- 10 Follow-ups & review
Step 6. Choose follow-ups, then publish.
Choose an owner email summary after every call, including calls without bookings. Optional owner text links need consent, mobile verification and platform messaging approval. Caller email follow-ups can cover appointment changes, callbacks and requested details; the caller may decline. Caller texts stay off at launch. Review the summary, including the selected calendar and booking status, check the one final approval box, then select Publish receptionist.
- 11 Number ready
Copy your ready number.
Your number is assigned automatically after checkout. Publishing connects your receptionist to it. When activation finishes, the ready popup offers Copy number, Set up call forwarding and Go to dashboard. Wait for the ready confirmation before forwarding calls.
- 12 Forwarding
Forward the calls you miss.
Keep your existing business number. Once the AI number is ready, use conditional forwarding so your phone rings first. Replace the fictional example with your assigned number and follow the instructions for your carrier.
- 13 First call
Test it. Check your dashboard.
Call your business number from another phone and let it forward. Check the greeting, instructions and any enabled calendar booking, then review the call in your dashboard. This example has a connected calendar and optional caller email enabled. Caller texts stay off.
Forwarding codes.
Inbound Booking uses conditional forwarding: your phone rings first, and only the calls you don’t pick up go to your AI receptionist. Dial these from the business phone your customers call. The examples use the sample AI number (570) 555-0199.
Conditional forwarding
Ring me, then forward if I don’t answer.
Your phone rings first. Calls you don’t answer, calls that come in while you’re on the phone, and calls while your phone is off or has no signal go to your AI number.
Regular forwarding
Send every call somewhere else.
Every call goes straight to your AI number, and your phone never rings. On iPhone, this is the switch in Settings › Apps › Phone › Call Forwarding.
Set “ring me, then forward if I don’t answer.”

Codes, confirmation messages and ring timing vary by carrier and plan. On another carrier, ask for conditional call forwarding (no answer, busy and unreachable) to your AI number.
Clear
answers.
Do I need a Google Business listing?
No. Google suggestions appear after eight characters, and you can continue without selecting a listing. You enter your details yourself.
Do I have to change my business number?
No. Customers keep calling your existing number and your phone rings first. Conditional forwarding sends unanswered and busy calls to your dedicated AI number.
What’s the difference between conditional and regular forwarding?
Conditional forwarding rings your phone first and forwards only the calls you don’t pick up: no answer, busy, or phone off. Regular forwarding sends every call to your AI number, so your phone never rings. Inbound Booking is set up for conditional forwarding.
How do I turn forwarding off?
On AT&T, T-Mobile, Mint, Metro or Cricket, dial ##004#. On Verizon, dial *73. If the iPhone switch in Settings › Apps › Phone › Call Forwarding is on, switch it off there too.
What does it cost?
For new customers, the 48-hour free trial includes an automatically assigned number. Card required; $0 today. Checkout completion starts your first monthly period, including its first 48 hours free. You get 100 calling minutes shared between the trial and the rest of that first month. Unless you cancel before the 48 hours end, we automatically charge the full $74.95 monthly fee. The plan renews at $74.95/month with 100 AI-connected minutes each month; additional time is $0.3495/min, billed by the second. Prices are before tax.
What happens if I use all 100 minutes during the trial?
AI calls pause until the trial ends and payment succeeds. There is no early charge. Trial calls count toward the same first-month allowance: if you use 30 minutes during the trial, 70 included minutes remain for that month after payment. Cancel before the 48 hours end if you do not want to be charged.
What happens when I cancel?
Cancel before your 48-hour trial ends to avoid the monthly charge. If you cancel after a paid charge, there is no prorated refund. Your service and number remain available until that monthly period ends, then close.
When is my number activated?
Your number is assigned after completed trial checkout. Publishing the six-step setup connects it automatically. Wait for the number-ready popup before setting up forwarding.
Do I need a calendar or caller texts?
A calendar is optional. In Hours & calendar, connect an account, choose its calendar and set appointment duration and buffer, then review and publish the six-step setup. Standard appointments use your business hours. Without a calendar, the AI collects preferred times and callback details instead of confirming a booking. Caller texts start off; email follow-ups are optional.
What if my carrier isn’t listed?
Most GSM prepaid brands, like Mint, Metro and Cricket, use the AT&T and T-Mobile codes. Otherwise, ask your carrier for conditional call forwarding (no answer, busy and unreachable) to your AI number. Codes and ring timing vary by carrier and plan.
